From West and Los Angeles:
Take I-10 east or Route 60 east towards Palm Springs. After passing the exits for the city of Beaumont, you will come to the Highland Springs Avenue exit; get off here and make a left turn at the bottom of the ramp heading North. Travel approximately 3 miles through 3 traffic lights and two stop signs. Immediately after the golf course on the right Highland Springs Ave turns sharply to the left at the white fence. There will be a blue sign marking the Camp Highland bus entrance at the first right and there should be a staff member there to greet you. All buses must pull in here! Cars may proceed to the main entrance to the Highland Springs Resort, make the second right onto Overland Trail. The entrance is then about 150 yards on the right at a sign for the Highland Springs Resort. All visitors and cars should be directed here!
From Palm Springs:
Take I-10 west towards Los Angeles. After passing the exits for the city of Banning, you will come to the Highland Springs Avenue exit; get off here and make a right turn at the bottom of the ramp onto Highland Springs Avenue. Travel approximately 3 miles through 2 traffic lights and 2 stop signs. Immediately after the golf course on the right Highland Springs Ave turns sharply to the left at the white fence. There will be a blue sign marking the Camp Highland bus entrance at the first right and there should be a staff member there to greet you. All buses must pull in here! From the North:
Lace up your hiking boots. Hike over San Gorgonio Mountain, elevation 11,502 feet. Look for large oak trees and start hiking downhill. Locate Smith Creek and follow downstream until you reach Camp Highland. Pat yourself on the back and prepare for another long hike home.
